Art institute of Pittsburgh

One of Pittsburgh's educational institutions is the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. It is actually the oldest of the Art Institutes in America. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh was founded in 1921 focusing on educating students in the areas that were in demand at the time. The AIP continues today to adjust focus of curriculum, based on the demands of the market. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh has moved locations several times since its original location. In 2001 The Pittsburgh Art Institute moved to it's current location at 420 Boulevard of the Allies Pittsburgh, PA into a large completely renovated historical landmark building.

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh focuses on technology, having numerous computer labs. The AIP has a quite lengthy course catalog. Along with the graphic design and advertising courses you would expect there are also classes in culinary arts, fashion design and other areas of design offered.

Students of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh may enter an associates degree or bachelors degree program. Aid is also provided for students in finding their first jobs. Art Institute of Pittsburgh works with employers to provide an education that will produce employees that are a perfect fit.

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh also has an online division. The online division was founded in 2000. Offered are degree and diploma programs in Graphic Design, Web Design, Game and Art design and more. There is also a bachelors degree program in Culinary Management. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh online is accredited by the (ACICS). The online division curriculum is based on that of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and graduates receive a degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The online degree program is a great opportunity for those who cannot attend classes at regular times. Online division classes can be attended at anytime provided students have access to a computer and internet connection. Graduates of the online division also will have the opportunity to don a cap and gown and attend a formal graduation.

One caveat to take in to account, not all institutions of higher learning accept transfer credits from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. If a potential student is considering graduate school or a transfer after the Art Institute it would be advisable to research which schools accept AIP credits. That being said the Art Institute of Pittsburgh is a great fit for many and provides the proper education for a successful career in many fields.
